At Tokyo's Narita Airport, Continental To See Star

By Jay Boehmer

OCTOBER 19, 2009 -- Continental Airlines on Nov. 1 will move operations to the South Wing of Terminal 1 at Tokyo's Narita International Airport, putting the carrier under the same roof as other Star Alliance airlines. Continental this month officially shifts from SkyTeam to Star, and the Tokyo move is its latest Asian alignment with its new partners, following moves at Beijing International Airport and Shanghai's Pudong International Airport.

The move also brings Continental closer to Japanese home carrier ANA, Air China, Korea's Asiana Airlines, Singapore Airlines and Thai. With the addition of Continental's five daily transpacific and Micronesia flights, Star carriers will provide 77 daily departures from Narita, including 11 daily transpacific and intra-Asia flights served by United. The move also gives Continental Presidents Club members and BusinessFirst customers access to United's Red Carpet Club and two other lounges operated by ANA.
